Christmas 2008
January 1, 2009
There I have written it for the first time….and got the year right! Hello again from the Stomieroskis! All is well with us. We remain healthy and happy, praise the Lord.
Our jobs look to be secure in the coming year. While Paul's is a bit stressful lately, he has been there 16 years (wow, does not seem like we have been here 16 years!) and has 397 weeks to retirement. My job continues to be secure but ever changing. This past year I was given the responsibility for project scheduling and reporting for manufacturing utilizing MSN Projects. While at first it was a bit confusing, developing project schedules has proven to be very interesting. I have been with L&S Electric now for 7.5 years.
I am getting carried away with my knitting. This past year I was attended two different seminars in the Twin Cities with some of the gals in my knitting guild and one weekend we went over to Eau Claire for a knitting retreat. I think that was the best time. We took our machines with us and spent two and one half days knitting and enjoying one another's company. I think I got to the seminars more for the companionship than anything else. We are very fortunate that there is many opportunities for machine knitters within a 4 - 6 hour drive of Wausau.
In April we had a new roof put on the house and had the lights redone in the basement. Hopefully, remodeling to continue… but knowing us, it will proceed slowly.
July 6th Paul's mother passed away. She was 81 and had been hospitalized for a couple of months due to a heart attack Now all our parents are gone.
Our animal count remains at two horses and two cats, Max (the tiger, 8) and Carlotta (the black, 7), who currently are sleeping. They will remain that way until we try to sleep, then they are awake and want loving.
In September I moved the “girls”, Lady (24) and Dalyte (11), back to Traci's barn in Athens, WI. She contacted me and indicated that she was interested in boarders again and wanted to know if I was interested in moving back. You bet I was. I had so missed doing things with her. I moved the girls back a week later. Even though it is a further drive, I feel I am getting more out of the time I do spend. More places to ride and Traci and I have been getting out and doing clinics and lessons.
We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in September by taking a mini vacation to Door County. Door County is a peninsula into Lake Michigan east of Green Bay. We spent four nights and three days wandering around the county visiting beaches and state parks, and even had a picnic or two. It very much felt like going to the ocean. One day we took the ferry over to Washington Island. Such a quiet and peaceful time. We were very lucky weather wise as we had 70-degree weather (in late September) and the temps held until we were halfway home, and then came the rain and cold. Since this was our 30th, we decided to spare no expense but did not expect the credit card statement that came later. We were charged $325.00 for breakfast one morning. It was a nice meal in a tourist type diner but Paul's not that big a tipper. He contacted the credit card company and it was soon resolved. We have included some pictures from our trip.
God's blessings to you for the coming year.
